Budget Car Rentals - Smartest way to save money.
May 4th, 2008 by admin
Frequent travelers are often the greatest users of budget car rental as they know the convenience it provides; the convenience of having a car whenever you need to travel should not be underestimated. The one thing you don't want though is to be lumbered with a car that sounds like your lawnmower. Perhaps a slight exaggeration on my part but when renting a car you do have to be careful. There are a few things that can help you when you organize a low cost rental car and I decided to let you know a few.The first easy option is to be in control of what you spend by finding a budget car rental company online that lets you set your own financial limit. These companies will try and get you the best deal available and often offer other upgrades or incentives to get your custom. If you are lucky and decide to book a fly-drive deal for instance, then you may find the rental company has upgraded your vehicle but this is less likely if you book with the airline themselves. Most people landing at an airport rush off to the car rental counters not realizing that these are not the most cost efficient places to rent a car and it is the same for their online business as well. There are some excellent budget car rental deals on the internet that can give you a great bargain. In fact many car rental web sites will only give a discount if you book online with them. Aside from that you can easily get upgrades and depending on the season, at least one rental company is bound to have a special offer that can help you save money. Don't forget that the only effort required to find these car rental deals is to logon to the internet, how easy is that.Discounts are often available that you don't realize; they are those that have been arranged between the budget car rental company and your credit card company so it is worth checking as you can save even more money. Perhaps your frequent flyer program or military service can help reduce the cost of renting a car; it's a long shot but it's worth a try. Most rental cars are low on maintenance so when you rent a car, check all sides for damage. I mean every side and every nook and cranny of that car, make sure to inform the renter of these so that you wont have to pay for damages once you return the car. Not only the outside but also check the inside and make sure all the controls etc. work as the last thing you want is a hefty repair bill when you return the car. There should be less worry if the company you are renting the car with uses automotive repair shop software because you can be assured that their cars are well maintained.More often than not your existing vehicle policy will cover the rental car insurance needed but it is always best to check first. Even though rental car insurance isn't going to cost you a fortune, there is no point in paying it if you are already covered; irrespective of the situation, don't think that it isn't an important aspect either because insurance is still required by law.Remember that car insurance is always required when you rent a car.
