The Chicago-based AMA and Malpractice

The prestigious organisation the American Medical Association has its headquarters in Chicago and uses malpractice lawyers. Since its beginnings in 1847, the AMA has sought "elevate the standard of medical education in the United States" which involves, among other things, lobbying for legislation that is favorable towards doctors and specialists.

Recently, the rate of medical malpractice claims have been on the increase. The general feeling is that if something goes wrong (e.g. someone dies or is left with a disability in spite of medical care), you can sue for malpractice.
