March 9th, 2008 by admin

Webcast technology has opened up a number of exciting frontiers and opportunities. From surveillance and security to entertainment, training and education a number of developments have taken place.

Since the internet is a ubiquitous medium, this development is a natural outcome of the very nature of that medium. The internet, coupled with the expansion in broadband technology has led to an explosive growth in webcasting.

Webcasting, by nature is non-interactive. However, it can be made interactive to an extent. Users can register with a webcast TV station, select a channel or a program on demand and give feedback. They can also request a program.

All major news networks such as the BBC, CNN and NBC have their own webcast channels.

Wireless Broadband Laptop

March 7th, 2008 by admin

I just bought a
wireless broadband laptop, and not a moment too soon. Now I can work in cafes and other such places with people and sunlight and no big piles of laundry and bills to remind me of all the other crap I need to get done. Working from home is seriously overrated.
Seriously, I can’t imagine why it took so long for Wireless Internet For Laptop Computers to become popular. Working from anywhere - what’s not to like? It’s like having a new office every day. So much nicer than the depressing cube I used to be stuck in.
I think my next “office” will be the local brewpub. Working on pub grub, Guinness in hand - sounds good to me.

The use of  cad cam design  software can allow instant changes to design without any need for waste or unnecessary delays. February 20th, 2008 by admin

Enough is enough. We’re buried under a mountain of paper over here. It’s time to institute some
document management standards, so we can actually find the documents we need.
Specifically, we need to investigate Cad Document Management. I think it would help us more than anything else with our overflowing filing system.
Of course the real hassle will be getting management to sign off on the document management standards. They’re tight fisted, but they’re just going to have to fork over the money for this one.

A resource for software testing

January 29th, 2008 by admin

I have been building my own software for some time and testing is one area that I always have challenges with. Ensuring that your program is robust across a diverse range of platforms is essential. I recently discovered a great software testing strategy resource. It reminded me of the advantages of having regression testing software that can be used as a safeguard when you are coding. You can use the rollback feature if you implement some new code and it creates an unwanted error. This is great for protecting code integrity.
