eccentric shower curtain
March 29th, 2008 by admin
You may be wonder how to go about finding the right shower curtain for your bathroom. I can tell you from experience that finding the right shower curtain can be very difficult. I was quite lucky when I found my latest shower curtain at a flea market. I certainly wasn’t looking for a shower curtain at that flea market, but there it was – my beautiful country shower curtains with giant rubber ducks on it. I certainly never expected to fall in love with such an eccentric shower curtain — in fact, my last shower curtain was a basic white one, and I had loved it, too.

I inherited my grandmother’s Bakhtari area rugs.
December 29th, 2007 by admin
My grandmother recently passed away. She had a will, so her things were divided between all of her children and grandchildren. I inherited her bakhtari area rugs. Although I could sell the rugs and make a lot of money, I am going to keep them. They have more sentimental value than anything for me. I'm not even sure if I will display the rugs in my home. I may store them so they don't become damaged in any way. They are durable and long lasting. They hold their value or increase in value, even if they are used and show signs of wear. It really doesn't matter to me how valuable they become. To me, they are priceless. They belonged to my grandmother, and they remind me of her. I won't ever sell them. I plan to hand them down to my children, and I hope they do the same.

Last night, I listened to a cd made by the Phillipine Rock band, bamboo. I am taking an anthropology course in college. Last night's topic was music. We were instructed to bring in music that we like to listen to. We heard a variety of music, and we talked about the origins and influences of each type. My professor brought a wide variety of music, and we listened to a portion of each cd. My favorites were the Phillipine rock band and a Japanese punk band.

We use wood burning fireplace inserts in our home.
November 23rd, 2007 by admin
My husband and I purchased a very old home that had been renovated recently. The house has a very modern look, but it still contains items that are reminiscent of the past. We have three wood burning fireplaces in our home - one in the living room, one in the family room, and one in the den. Because the house is very large, it is expensive to heat in the winter months. We started using the fireplaces to cut down on heating costs. Although we had all three fireplaces in operation, our heating bills were not reflecting the savings that we expected. After doing some research, we realized that the majority of heat generated from the fireplaces was not being released into the room. We purchased three wood fireplace inserts. Since then, our gas bills have gone down drastically. The inserts really made a difference in the efficiency of the fireplaces.
