The introduction of the Euro currency

In recent years the introduction of the Euro has really put a dampener on the US exchange rate. Despite the structural problems that affect the US the Euro foreign currency coincided with the steady decline in the US dollar. Many countries are now looking to this currency as a potential new currency to weight exchange rates to and to hold as foreign reserves. This is really putting increased pressure on the US exchange rate as witnessed by the recent events that have affected this currency.
