Working out whether to buy or rent

I have been reviewing my finances lately to determine my next move. I really want to get out of renting. Buying a new house is a big commitment so I need to really assess whether it is the right time to move or not. With the home prices the way they currently are, if the market continues to rise then it will be difficult to be able to afford a home. Real estate is something that is good to own no matter what happens.
